Summary[]

A crusading D.A., Mike Powers, goes after the Sheriff's department in the wake of Milkshake Man's death.

Cold Open[]

Dangle flees from reporter Maria Storm's questions.

Plot[]

The deputies fear the investigation.

Mike Powers interrogates the deputies, who rat each other out:

  • Williams says the black officers have to ride in the back, and everyone uses the N-word constantly. "I'm surprised at Dangle. He a fag, and he calling everyone a n*****!"
  • Junior removes his glasses to reveal he is cross-eyed and has terrible vision. When Powers is incredulous that he drives, he asks if Junior uses a firearm. "I'm the best shot in the department, sir."
  • Wiegel is asked about her medications and suicide attempt. She offers "some dirt." Powers leads her in which words to say. "Jones and Garcia: they killed that guy."
  • Sheriff Chechekevich is singing "Dixie" instead of testifying. (Dangle referred to him as a "secret weapon" who would be their salvation) When Powers finally gets him to talk, he says he's in the office about two days a week.

Dangle and Junior attempt to serve papers to a man who refuses to take the paper. Hijinks ensue. They reflect on how it's so much easier delivering a summons to "the brothers." "The brothers just take it. Goddamn honkies."

Dangle, Wiegel and Jones listen for a weasel in the walls at a residence. Wiegel follows the sound to a door, which she blasts through with the shotgun, felling Junior on the other side. He gasps, "Did you get the weasel?"

Dangle urges Wiegel to take the Fifth with the D.A. because of what she calls the "bird in my mouth" and the "monkey in my brain," but she thinks she's doing better.

Jones and Williams stop a puppet show in the park by sex offender Steve Marmel. The curtain at the bottom opens to reveal he is pantsless, and he chides them that they ruined the magic snake illusion.

Five silver robot street performers are in a line-up. Dangle reveals that this is just a ruse to keep these guys off the street because he hates them.

A street gambler claims that he's part Indian so his crap game is legal. He says his tribal permit is in smoke signals.

Wiegel brings a cake to Craig in prison, and says there's a surprise in it but he seems oblivious to her meaning and excitedly tells a guard about it. She whispers that it's a file. He examines his surroundings and says, "The walls are pretty thick."
